Welcome to the 21st Century Weather Change Cookbook! This cookbook is a collection of recipes for analysing and visualising weather and climate data. Each recipe is a self-contained analysis that demonstrates a specific technique or method for working with weather and climate data.
This is a project of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Weather of the 21st Century. We research how Australia’s weather is being reshaped by climate change. 21st Century Weather is a consortium of 27 academic, government and industry partners, led by Monash University in collaboration with the University of Melbourne, the University of New South Wales, the Australian National University, and the University of Tasmania.
Recipes: a minimal reproducible example¶
Studying the weather and climate requires large amounts of data and computational power, so we usually do our research on supercomputers. The goal of this cookbook is to make our research more accessible and to provide a resource for others who want to learn more about weather and climate analysis. Our recipes are made of minimal reproducible examples that showcase the methods we use but with a small subset of the data. Each recipe includes the necessary information to download the data and recreate the python environment to reproduce the analysis and build from there.
How to¶
You can navigate the recipes in the cookbook using the menu on the left. Each recipe includes a description of the analysis, the code used to perform the analysis, and any data or resources needed to run the analysis. You can read the recipes online, or download a zip file with the corresponding notebook, scrips, python requirements and instructions on how to download the necessary data to run the analysis. Look for the “Download” button ⬇️ at the top right of each recipe page to download the zip file.
